Topic

The idea of a “global” or “Cosmopolitan” law has been popularized without much reference to or reflection upon the traditional issues of political and legal philosophy. This conference seeks to explore such questions, including (but not limited to): What do we mean by ‘global law’? How are we to account for its legal nature? Do we need new conceptual tools in order to do that? Can we claim that there is a global legal system or a global constitution? How are we to determine its content? When is global law or global constitutionalism legitimate? When is it legitimate to disobey it? How are we to understand adjudication in a global context?
