The University of Akron School of Law hosts the Third Annual David & Ann Brennan IP Scholars Forum Sept. 23, 2016.
The theme for this year’s Forum is “IP Limits.” Invited participants will explore current and persisting issues related to the exploitation and enforcement of IP rights and issues testing the boundaries of where specific IP rights can and should end. Possible topics in this year’s broad field of discussion include, but are not limited to, overreaching by IP owners or the government in enforcing IP rights; potential causes of such overreaching; legal and extra-legal solutions to overreaching; judicial, legislative, and private attempts to scale back or expand the limits of IP rights; areas of overlapping IP protection; overlapping spheres of authority in administering or regulating IP rights; the interstices between the various types of IP protection; and the term and termination of IP rights.
