Call for Participants: 2015 SEALS Conference–Boca Raton, FL

Southeastern Association of Law Schools

The Southeastern Association of Law Schools will be holding its 2015 Annual Conference on July 27-August 2, 2015 in Boca Raton, FL.

One of the proposed discussion groups at the conference, “Innovations in Teaching Constitutional Law,” is seeking additional discussants to join the group. Anyone interested in being a discussant can email a description of his/her teaching technique and ideas that relate to the description below to Professor Eang Ngov at engov@barry.edu. In addition, please contact Professor Ngov for information regarding the group’s current discussants.

Project Description:
Teaching Constitutional Law has its unique challenges: lack of bright-line rules, layers of doctrine that pile on exceptions to exceptions, complex and fragmented opinions, and inconsistent jurisprudence. This discussion group focuses on techniques and ideas that make Constitutional Law accessible to students, provide clarity to a muddled subject area, show students real world relevance and significance, make students practice-ready, and maintain their engagement. Discussants will share ideas about group work, in class exercises, potential for flipping the classroom, experiential learning, role play, workshops outside of class, informal assessments, etc.
