The British Institute of International and Comparative Law presents Current Trends in Contemporary International Dispute Resolution: More Practical Reality and Less Abstract Principle? on June 28, 2013, from 5-6:30 p.m.
As international dispute resolution mechanisms continue to proliferate, the number of actors being given access to these mechanisms continues to expand as well. From ad hoc arbitral tribunals to newly established standing institutions, the expansion of international arbitral and judicial fora raises important questions about the effectiveness and legitimacy of the emerging system of international dispute resolution. Included among the issues that will be discussed at this seminar are the composition of adjudicative bodies, the transparency of proceedings, and the ongoing problem of enforceability of judgments and awards.
