The Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law (University of Memphis) and the University of Memphis Law Review host Breaking the Silence: Legal Voices in the Fight Against Human Trafficking on March 22, 2013.
The full-day event will take a close look at key areas of human trafficking in the court system on both a national and statewide level. Human trafficking is often viewed as a distant, international issue, but sex trafficking, labor trafficking, and other forms of human trafficking occur every day right outside our backdoor. Tennessee recently passed some of the strongest anti-trafficking laws in the country, and the passage of this legislation guarantees that the issue will arise with increasing frequency in our state courts. We hope you will join us to learn more about this emerging legal and cultural topic.
