Call for Papers: Wits Student Law Journal of Southern Africa

The Wits Student Law Journal of Southern Africa (University of the Witwatersrand Faculty of Law) invites contributions for its inaugural issue. The submission deadline is May 15, 2012. Background
While the SADC region is home to some of the sharpest legal minds in the world, the region itself lacks a central platform for legal discourse. Our journal hopes to fill that gap, by encouraging insightful legal commentary on issues affecting Southern Africa.

While we hope to provide a platform for great writing, we think great reading is just as important. That is why in addition to showcasing compelling subject matter, we aim to do so in a way that’s accessible to legal minds at all levels. In other words, we are looking for concise legal articles that pack a punch.

Invitation
Article contributions will be accepted from all legal practitioners, academics and law students in Southern Africa. Both undergraduate and postgraduate law students are encouraged to contribute.

We request articles highlighting current issues of interest or concern in our legal community.

As a guideline, we request papers on, but not limited to, the following topics:
• Human Rights and Social Justice
• Environmental and Energy Law
• LGBTI Rights
• Immigration Law, including citizenship and asylum
• Criminal Law
• Labour Law
• Taxation Law
• Competition Law
• Illegal Substance Regulations and Policies
• Media Laws and Regulations
• Corporate Law
