International Law – Rio de Janeiro

73rd International Law Association Biennial Conference — with the theme Law for the Future — will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Aug. 17-21, 2008.

The Brazilian Branch of the International Law Association (ILA-BRASIL) will host with support from the American Society of International Law the 73rd Conference of the International Law Association (ILA). ILA conferences are held every other year in different countries of the world, to discuss contemporary legal issues in the international agenda and the ongoing work of its various committees. They bring together legal academics, practitioners, members of national and international courts from all Continents.

The theme of the 2008 Conference will be the “Law for the Future,” and will be geared to discuss the response of contemporary law to the needs of the modern world, the gap between conflicts and the legal solutions in modern societies, and the contribution of the legal community for the development of juridical concepts for the future.
