Call for Papers: End of Life Law, Ethics, Policy, and Practice – Halifax, Nova Scotia

The Dalhousie Health Law Institute, the Australian Centre for Health Law Research, and the European Research Network on End of Life invite abstracts for the Second International Conference on End of Life Law, Ethics, Policy, and Practice. The conference will be September 13-15, 2017, and consider “end of life law, ethics, policy, and practice from a wide range of perspectives and will feature plenaries delivered by experts from around the world.”

Abstracts on these themes are particularly welcome:

– Medical assistance in dying (euthanasia and assisted suicide)
– Withholding and withdrawing potentially life-sustaining treatment (e.g. the “futile treatment” debate, artificial hydration and nutrition)
– Palliative sedation
– Advance directives and advance care planning
– Next generation issues (e.g. medical assistance in dying in prisons, organ donation and medical assistance in dying)
– Other end of life law, ethics, policy, and practice issues

Submission instructions and deadline: use the provided Abstract submission form.
– All abstracts should be submitted by February 15th, 2017.
– Abstracts should be submitted by e-mail to icel2[@]dal.ca
– Receipt of abstracts will be confirmed by email and applicants will be notified of the outcome by March 31, 2017.
